Project: Lake project-AERI
|
 | PV & Wind power The south side of the building, shown here sports a 3kw BIPV array along the center, lots of solar-tubes and a lower 3kw standard PV array. There are also 5 wind turbines further south from the building for a total renewable energy input of 12kw. While others were grid-tieing and connecting power to the grid, we have been busy perfecting the off-grid system. Planetary systems can integrate energy efficiency and power for any structure or puspose.
|
Power System The power system includes a 14.4kw Power Package with all Outback components and an SEC battery bank with a 150,000kwh battery which ensures shallow cycling even with the building load in service which includes about 10kw of boring machines and a lathe for metal work amoung others. More on this project as it is finished.
| |
 | PV and Wind power The photo shows an array of wind generators in the foreground including (4) Southwest Windpower model-100 generators and our HY2K downwind 2kw wind unit recently installed. In the backgound, you can more clearly note the lower 3kw PV array and the 3kw BIPV panels on the building south facing second floor.
|
Solar hot water system The solar hot water system consists of a 20-tube Lumos collector with (2) 80-gallon Lumos twin-coil tanks which supply two independent hot water circuits. These independly supply the upstairs baths and faucets and the Kitchen with seperate instantaneous hot water backup heaters to give a higher supply temperature to the kitchen. This guarantees that the less efficient dishwasher water heating element does not operate.
| |
 | Super-efficient heating system The two Buderus GB-142 boilers shown, each rated at 75kbtu are able to heat the entire 17,000 sq-ft building for about $350 per month in a Montana winter with temperatures as low as -20F. This is accomplisehed thru superior radint heating design and a super-efficient building envelope. This heating system is not only efficient on fuel usage, but the entire heating system only draws 2 amps from the RE system.
|
Energy efficient lighting Most of the lighting is LED, which is more efficient than even compact fluorescent. This is a flat panel LED light for th bedroom ceiling.
| |
 | Intelligent ambient lighting. The main central floor is mostly lit during the day by a arrangement of Sun-tubes and the back side of the BIPV panels which all let light in from the south side of the building. This arrangment is more efficient than windows from an energy and lighting standpoint. In the foreground is one of the Buderus radiators which provide extra heat when needed for the main floor, but seldom are needed due to the building energy design.
|
12vdc stair lighting The stairway safety lighting is 12vdc and powered by an independent 24vdc Power Cube system made by Planetary Systems. These lights come on at night and are off during the day, but are always reliable.
| |
 | Power Cube system Our patented Power Cube system can be sized for any power requirement and in this system provides all the 12vdc and 24vdc power for the building fans, LED lights, Stairway lights and other more decorative LED features. The system is power by our exclusive VAWT 400w turbine and two PV modules mounted near the entrance. The system also provides 120vac power to the spcial 1-ton main door entranceway using Linear Actuators also designed by Planetary Systems.
|
Main entryway 10' door The main entryway of the AERI building is thru this 10' -1 ton door operated by a linear actuator system designed and installed by Planetary Systems and powered by the Power Cube system.
| |
 | Power Cube system PV and wind The PV and Wind input to the Power Cube system is provided by a BIPV array and our exclusive DS-400 VAWT unit mounted at the end of the entryway bridge.
