Project:   Eagle Vista Ranch
Near Livingston, Montana is one of the largest off-grid commercial facilities in the west. This 17,000 sq-ft facility is an indoor horse arena with a complete office, public restrooms, viewing rooms, sound system, indoor arena lighting and stalls for horse boarding. The systems for heating, water and power were all provided by Planetary Systems as well as the design for lighting and overall energy use.

Nearly all of the 40+Kwh power the building requires is derived from this 5,280 watt solar array and the (2) Whisper H-40 wind units. The project was an estimated 6000 feet from utility power and the entire infrastructure for the building including power, heat and lights was less than 20% of the connection cost.

ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEM
The power system is our Model 2E Power Package as shown above-left with a bank of GNB Absolyte IIP sealed batteries (48vdc) with a system rating of 11,000 watts continuous power and over 75,000 watts of storage.

WATER STORAGE SYSTEM
The water system is pump/storage using a Grundfos SQ-Flex well pump (280 watts) providing up to 5gpm to the storage tanks. The pressure system includes a SunPumps SCB-6-40P/24 booster pump. Each tank holds 300 gallons of water.

The generator shown is a Kohler model 11RMY LP unit, providing 11kw of power for backup.

LIGHTING
The main arena is lighted by (36) 65-watt (500w equivalent) fluorescent floods and 22 overhead canopy lights which are 50 watt metal-halide fixtures.

HEATING SYSTEM
The arena is heated by a 500,000 Btu heating system using Buderus model G234/55 boilers and St-200 domestic hot water tank.
